Dr. Tom Oliverson, a successful anesthesiologist, today officially announced his campaign for State Representative, District 130. Representative Allen Fletcher, who has represented the district since 2009, has decided not to seek reelection.

“Representative Fletcher has been a great public servant to the State of Texas and we all appreciate the work he has done. We wish him the very best in his future endeavors,” Dr. Oliverson said.

“I am running for State Representative to fight for our conservative values. As a small business owner, I understand first hand that small businesses are the engines that drive our economy. I will fight to promote free markets and end burdensome regulations that cripple our businesses and hurt the Texas economy. I will unapologetically defend the life of the unborn, fight for lower property taxes, protect our border, be an advocate for education reform, and defend our 2nd Amendment rights,” Dr. Oliverson continued.

Dr. Oliverson is a partner with US Anesthesia Partners, the largest anesthesiology group in Texas with over 1,100 anesthesia providers. He is recognized as an expert in office-based anesthesia and consults with doctors and dentists throughout the state in order to make office surgery safer for patients. His work includes the passage of SB 978 in the 2013 legislative session. This bill, designed by Dr. Oliverson, closed a dangerous loophole in Texas Medical Board regulation of physicians performing anesthesia in office-based settings. In recognition of his efforts to fight for conservative values, Dr. Oliverson and his wife were appointed to Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick’s Inaugural Committee.

Active in the community, Dr. Oliverson is involved with the Boy Scouts of America (Dr. Oliverson is an Eagle Scout), Family Life Ministries, and many more. He also has served as a lay youth leader and adult Sunday school teacher at his church.

Dr. Oliverson and his wife Jennifer, who earned her education degree from Sam Houston State University, are active members of Jersey Village Baptist Church and live in Cypress where they raise and home school their three children.
